Winter Skills and Ben Nevis attempt (December-March)

Your Adventure winter skills

Join their Winter Mountain Leaders and spend 2 days, learning essential winter skills and attempting the UK’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis (or any other winter Munro), in full winter condition. The skills day could be based around Fort William, Glen Coe or Aviemore, with exact location depending on where you’re staying and the prevailing snow and weather conditions. they may need to drive to find the snow, but they will be in touch to discuss options nearer the day.

Some of the things which they may cover on the skills day include:

  • Ice axe arrests
  • Self Belays
  • Step Cutting
  • Emergency Shelters
  • Reading and interpreting an Avalanche report
  • Reading terrain and using it to your advantage
  • Winter Navigation techniques

The summit day could be an attempt on Ben Nevis itself, or another winter Munro, such as Stob Ban of the Mamores, Cairngorm and Ben MacDui, or Buachille Etive Mor.

Whilst the weather in the glens might be warm and sunny, on the tops it can be anything but. In winter, a successful summit trip can take anywhere from 8-12 hours, so a good level of fitness is strongly advised. You are likely to encounter all types of weather so come prepared for a full-on adventure.

They can provide ice axes and crampons as needed, at no extra cost.

These days can be booked together or individually, just let them know which you’d like to do.
