We were very pleased recently to be able to help out a local care home, by hiring our campervans to them to provide accommodation to its key workers.
As you all know, our campers are more used to trundling around the Scottish Highlands, but in these unprecedented times, we were delighted that they could be put to an alternative use.
We were approached by Victoria Connolly, Manager at the Isabel Fraser Care Home, at the beginning of the lockdown. At this time, the care home had been able to remain virus free, and wanted to further protect their residents by taking this course of action.
This came at a time when, sadly, many care homes in Scotland and the UK had already seen higher than average cases affecting their vulnerable residents.
The staff were to stay on site for a period of 3 weeks, so that they could minimise the risk of infecting the vulnerable residents. This selfless act meant not being able to see their own families, and we are really proud to be helping the staff and management at this difficult time.
We have been overwhelmed by the positive responses from members of the public, across social media and online, but in our opinion, the care home staff are the real heroes of this story – and they should be applauded for their selfless actions in this time of great uncertainty.
Their quick action is a great example of a company making the safety of their residents and staff a priority, and adapting the way they normally operate to cope with the current and difficult situation the whole country has found itself in.
When this current situation is over, the campers will go back to their normal job of providing holiday makers with fun accommodation to travel across Scotland in, but in the meantime Ruby, Oscar and Hector are doing their bit to help!
