Inside, a campervan usually makes clever use of a relatively compact space. A typical layout may include a rock-and-roll bed, cooking facilities, a fridge and storage. The rear seating can convert into a comfortable double bed at night, while during the day it provides a useful living and social space.

It’s also important to check the vehicle’s weight and your driving licence before hiring. Some larger motorhomes have a maximum authorised mass above 3.5 tonnes, which can require additional driving entitlement depending on when and where your licence was issued.
