Visit Scotland have put together a selection of the Highlands most spectacular castles which can be visited in as little as 4 days – but we think you could just as easily spend 10 days visiting these majestic buildings.
The trail starts in Inverness and sweeps through the Highlands and across to Skye. Along the way you can do some Nessie spotting, visit the garrison of Fort George, and visit the seats of clans such as the Macleod’s and the Donald’s.
